If you’ve called us and heard these words, the odds are you have spoken to Jewelya Bates. She is Ag Workers beloved receptionist. I had the pleasure of talking with her today to learn more about what she does here at Ag Workers as well as discuss some fun questions to learn more about what she likes to do outside of work.

Role in the Company
Jewelya has worked at Ag Workers for a little over 4 years and is currently the front desk receptionist. Her job includes “a little bit of everything”. She answers phones, handles emails, and assists in projects from other departments. These departments include policy services, marketing, and accounting. Her favorite part of working at Ag Workers is the people. She has made friends with many people over the years and has created some great friendships. Although, she does have a favorite coworker, Samantha Clark. (And that just happens to be me! 😉)
Family
Jewelya and her family are close. Married to her childhood sweetheart, JB, she is the oldest of three children. Her sister is currently serving in the United States Army and her brother and his wife just had a baby, Eli. Jewelya is especially proud to be an aunt!
Jewelya’s family wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t talk about her fur babies, a feisty chihuahua who acts like a human baby, Lulu, and her 15-year-old cat, Ginger. She lives on the same piece of land as her parents and they have three pets as well. Two dogs named Charlie and Daisy, and a cat named Topaz.
Fun Facts
Jewelya loves Mexican food and dark chocolate. In her free time, she likes to go on hikes with her husband and enjoys being outdoors. She also likes to watch movies and read books. Her favorite book series is the Alphabet Mystery series. She was devastated when the series author, Sue Grafton, passed away. The series only had one book left and that was the letter “Z”. But out of all the books in the series, Jewelya’s favorite would have to be “C” is for Corpse. Jewelya loves watching movies, especially musicals, so picking her favorite was hard. After, thinking about it for a few moments she concluded that her favorite movie is Fiddler on the Roof.
Ag Workers is one big, crazy family. That is why we like to talk and get to know more about our coworkers.
