Have you ever stopped by the Ag Workers Insurance booth at a trade show? If so, you have most likely met Patti Beckham. She travels all over the state of Texas to spread the word about Ag Workers Insurance. Her friendly nature and love for the people of agriculture make a lasting impression.
Here is a preview of Patti Beckham’s role at Ag Workers and a few personal highlights.
Role in the Company
Patti Beckham is a long-time Ag Workers policy owner since 1971. She was at an Ag Ed Block dinner at Tarleton State University when Marcus Hill and Prater Gibbs were selling Ag Workers Mutual Auto Insurance and National Farm Life. This is where she obtained her auto insurance policy, making this the start of her 49-year relationship with Ag Workers Insurance.
Prior to joining the Ag Workers family, she worked for Lone Star Land Bank for 23 years as their Sr. Vice President of Public Relations and Communications. During this time, she became a member of the Ag Workers Board of Directors and served on various committees. Upon retirement with the Land Bank, she took her position with Ag Workers Insurance. She began her career here in 2006 where she was Sr. Vice President of Public Relations and Communications. Currently, Ms. Beckham travels the state of Texas marketing Ag Workers Insurance, attending trade shows, and reaching out at public relations events. She also oversees a marketing team that works with her, Connie Lott, Sharon Pierce, and Jacob Snyder. During, the summer the marketing interns are given the opportunity to travel with Patti and her team to different trade shows. Ms. Beckham gets to share with them her many skills and knowledge of the insurance industry. Recently, Patti and her sister Connie Lott started a Facebook page called The Ag Workers Sisters. In the series, they travel around Texas interviewing different organizations and individuals in the agricultural field.
Her favorite part of Ag Workers is meeting the great people in agriculture.“They are the finest folks in Texas, down to earth and very caring folks. Ag Workers’ agricultural family is among the finest”, said Patti Beckham.
Patti values family dearly. She has one son Brad Hargrove, Training Captain of Alvarado Fire Department, one daughter-in-law, Anna who works for the Cancer Center in Ft. Worth and one granddaughter, Ashley who is attending Hill College and works daily at a childcare facility in Joshua. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter Ashley! She could not be more proud of their accomplishments and their commitment to the Alvarado community.
Patti’s favorite hobby is “junking”! Give her a junk store and she is happy. Her house is filled with treasures she has found while traveling to different stores. Also, she is a collector of Nippon dishes and enjoys golfing. She is the best at putting. As for favorite movies, she has a few. One of her absolute favorites is The Blind Side, and another is Sweet Home Alabama. But we must not forget about the modern classic, Forrest Gump.
Patti is an outstanding person and consultant, so she has many accomplishments. It would be too hard to list all of them. One of these many achievements is her book “The Orla Flash”. She was challenged by Ag Workers President, and Chairman of the Board Marcus Hill to write a book and was able to get it published. Mr. Hill always tells people; everyone has a story and we should all take the time to write and that is exactly what Patti did! If you like a good, fun read, you will enjoy her book.
It was a great opportunity to get to learn more about Ms.Beckham and her history with Ag Workers Insurance. I look forward to speaking with other employees and consultants in the future.
