Ag Workers Insurance has many outstanding employees who deserve to be praised for their dedication to the ag community.
Often, people forget about those select individuals who work behind the scenes. These employees work tirelessly to make sure everything is running smoothly. Without them, Ag Workers would not be the company it is today. One of these employees is Denise Farmer Bell.
I had the opportunity to ask Denise a few questions about her time at Ag Workers Insurance and her life outside of work.
Role in the Company
Denise Bell has been a member of the Ag Workers family for 3 years and is a senior accountant. Her role includes processing accounting for investments, program business, and Fixed Assets. However, Denise has not always been an accountant.
Before pursuing accounting and working for Ag Workers, Denise built parts for the B-2 Stealth Bomber.
Due to defense cuts eliminating her position, she went back to college and chose to study accounting. She chose this career path because she enjoys the problem-solving aspects of the field and the job security that comes along with it. No matter what happens in the future, no matter how times change, accountants will always be needed. It is clear it was the right calling for her because all of her colleagues have nothing but nice things to say about her work.
Her favorite part about working at Ag Workers is “the family atmosphere” and that everyone is “so nice.” Denise and the other accounting team members have a great relationship. They are not only colleagues but have grown to be friends.
Family
Denise has been married to her husband, David, for the past 8.5 years. They have a blended family composed of 6 wonderful kids. If having 6 kids isn’t wild enough, they have two sets of twins. The oldest of the bunch is Alexandra (27), who is married with two kids. Then there is Erik (22). Jackson and Audrey (22) are the first set of twins, and Kyle and Emily(18) are the second set. Denise likes to joke that they are the new Brady’s and all she needs is an Alice.
Since Denise’s children are getting older and their schedules are busy, the family has a monthly dinner. Due to Covid-19, Denise and her family have not been able to continue this tradition. She hopes once the restrictions are lifted at restaurants, and the pandemic is over, they can resume their monthly family get-together.
Fun Fact
Denise has many talents. Not only does she juggle having a full-time job and being a parent, but she refinishes furniture. She enjoys tackling DIY projects around her house any free chance she gets. When she is not working on her projects, she enjoys watching her favorite movie, Places in the Heart.
She has lived an exciting life that has shaped her into the woman she is today. Her life is far from boring.
Denise used to build airplane/helicopter parts prior to becoming an accountant. She was a proud member of the Texas FFA and got to witness her daughter Emily follow in her footsteps and join this great organization.
In addition, she had a Navajo Indian stepmom and lived on a reservation in Arizona as a small child.
