Recognition of Policyholder Dr. Thomas E. Randle

Who is Dr. Thomas E. Randle?

According to Ag Workers Chairman of the Board, Marcus Hill, Dr. Randle is many things—an educator, public servant, ag advocate, public speaker, and longtime friend.

Dr. Thomas E. Randle attended school in Brenham, TX, and was a star student in Hill’s class, receiving perfect marks. Throughout his high school years, he was also an active member of the Texas FFA.

If I only had one word to describe my former student [Dr. Thomas E. Randle], it would be "talent". — Marcus Hill, Ag Workers Chairman of the Board

Following high school, Dr. Randle went on to obtain his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University and started his career in education as an agriculture teacher in Sweeny.

Dr. Randle proceeded to earn his doctorate from Oklahoma State University and took on administrative positions, including assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent for secondary education in Conroe ISD. He eventually worked his way up and served as the superintendent of LaMarque ISD before joining Lamar Consolidated ISD in 2001.

As superintendent, Dr. Randle helped Lamar CISD achieve excellence through top-notch academics and extracurricular activities. The district has expanded its facilities and more than doubled student enrollment since Dr. Randle came on as superintendent.

For Dr. Randle’s service and commitment, he was recognized as the 2004 Texas Educational Support Staff Administrator of the Year, 2012 Administrative Leadership Institute’s Hoyle Award in Educational Leadership Recipient, 2017 Region 4 Superintendent of the Year, and one of the Top 50 Black Professionals and Entrepreneurs of Texas 2021 by d-mars.com.

In October 2020, after 44 years in education, Dr. Randle announced his retirement from the school district. But his legacy will live on for generations, thanks to his lasting impact on so many young minds.

To further honor Dr. Randle and his contributions, Lamar CISD dedicated a high school after him, naming it Dr. Thomas E. Randle High School. The school opened for its first semester in the fall of 2021 and is having its dedication ceremony on Saturday, September 18, 2021.

While Dr. Randle has achieved a lot throughout his lifetime, he has never forgotten his roots in Brenham and the people who have helped him along the way. With the support of close friends and advisors like Mr. Hill and Dr. Randall Williams, his former ag teacher Robert Little, University Professors Dr. Gary and Sandy Briers, and his loving wife Rubye, Dr. Randle has grown as an educator and touched many students’ lives.

We look forward to the dedication ceremony and celebrating one of our many great policyholders, Dr. Thomas E. Randle.
